Beatles Goodness With the Merging Hearts Crew

Wow, what a great time with the Merging Hearts folks night before last.  The Chantelopes lineup consisted of Craig, Casey, Mike, Su and special guest, Joe Culley ripping up the tabla.  This was our first attempt with an all-Beatles set list which went better than we could’ve hoped for.  Here, take a listen!

Beatles - Blackbird
Beatles - 909
Beatles - Day Tripper
Beatles - Let it be
Beatles - If I Fell
Beatles - Imagine
Beatles - Across the Universe
Beatles - My Sweet Lord
Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows
Beatles - Here Comes The Sun
Beatles - What You're Doing

Riding another Music High

Making music with the group Sunday was great! We were playing for a vinyasa class (yoga w/ live music). I really enjoyed playing unamplified because we achieved a nice blend of percussion, harmonium, vocals and classical guitar. We were supporting a mission trip by Univ. of Akron students traveling to New Orleans to help with post-Katrina rebuilding efforts. It is an alternative spring break (selfless service instead of self indulgence). I first got into guitar because I wanted to use music as a platform for making political statements, but I fell in love with music and lost my inclination to sully it with my opinions. Kirtan suits me very well: celebrating Spirit, Nature, Love and the communion of mind, body and breath.

Happy Birthday and Congratulations

We had a fulfilling and rewarding time last night playing for Laura Lynn and her group celebrating her birthday + wedding at the Goodyear Metroparks shelter in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

We played some selections from the Beatles and our standard fare for about 90 minutes.  Met a whole new batch of good people and very much enjoyed the abundant food and drink.

Thanks so much to Laura Lynn and her group for having us.
